@Deanna Starr I suspect the warning would apply to conservative folks who thinks kids shouldn't be on boats or that it's ok to pollute the planet without any restrictions.

I'm a 71 yr old retired sailmaker. My dream of retiring to the Seven Seas has been scuttled, at least for the near future. My wife of over 40 years has dementia and I am committed to keeping her with me vs piutting her in a home. Videos such as yours are a kind of therapy for me, I watch a number of them which helps take my mind off the day to day stress. I enjoy watching all aspects of the sailing life as it pertains to sailing. Whether it's cruising on that perfect day or fighting for survival in the perfect storm. The ups and downs are all part of the package. You're right in saying that there are parts of the life that are personal and don't need to be aired. That being said, I find myself as much interested in the people as I am in living vicariously through them. It's like you become friends, though having never met, and you start to care about what happens to them. So when I get a notification I'll get on ESclips on my big screen and check out what the Vagabond family is up to this week. And, of course, we are all just about as excited as you guys about the new trimaran. Great videos. I came to your party late so I go back in the archives to check your earlier ones. See you next week.:)

As a male nurse working with elderly with severe dementia, I can only imagine your daily struggles. But I commend you for putting your wifes care first. It may not always show, but the little things at home that sparks her memory does wonders for her mental health, versus a home where she'd be subject to their daily routines and morning/bedtime hours. Being cared for by a family member vs a professional that would see her as a part of their job is barely even comparable :D
      Kudos to you sir!

Good on you Graham. I like to think in the next life all these things will come for those who lived a noble life.
As I age, I am even more certain of it.
For most of us, we have to make sacrifices in order to commit to a certain path. One cannot have it all.
I've been binge watching these vids as well today. I got hooked with the video about the advantages of catamarans.
I realized how level headed and smart Riley is.

You also need to remind people that there's no camera crew. If things get dangerous or even just difficult - you have to preserve your lives and your boat - and that may mean no filming- maybe for many hours. That's how it is.

People should know this already but I guess not necessarily cuz everyone expects youtubers. lives to be perfect and nothing goes wrong for them. They're just perfect individuals with perfect lives..like the person above evidently. 🙄🙄

    • Kels0Jade
      Kels0Jade Hace un mes +2

@tbc543 um rude much?! No..alot of us like to know what actually goes on cuz that is entertaining itself. You sound like you want a bunch of fakeness. Alot of people enjoy or like knowing that even tho they're youtubers..they're not perfect and like to know things behind the scenes. Quite honestly..if that's not how you are then I'd say you're not a true fan. If you just want entertainment and don't care about the struggles people go thru..then you don't truly care about them.

*ANOTHER great video. I'm so impressed that you're not the typical sailing channel highlighting negative drama, using immature thumbnails/click-baits, and behaving boringly superficial. Keep doing whatever you're doing that causes your intellect, awareness, respect, integrity, and emotional intelligence to continuously grow and improve with time. As your personal development not only makes you a great example and inspiration for many to learn, grow, and evolve into incredible human beings as yourselves but it's really what makes your content & channel interesting, brilliant, and fun. That and of course along with your funny character and humor, sailing expertise, creativity, video editing skills, and "the boys". Riley and Elayna you are an absolute blast to watch!*

Hi guys!! Great video, again… have been binging many of your episodes the past couple of weeks/months. Thanks for great inspiration and content….
I was just wondering: the sealife / boatlife adventures really trigger something inside of me. It makes me calm and inspires me to consider a similar type of lifestyle! Which is very great.
However, I also note and see you get through all the negative elements. Feeling isolated, the world travel not being what you think it is. I am confused. It really attracts me, I am not sure why, but with all the negative elements about world travelling and boat life make me doubt considering it. Even though it attracts me so much. Does anyone have the same feeling? Doesn’t everything in life have a downside? Just because something may have negative side effects doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and just go for the 9-5 job… right? Because I don’t want that. But I am confused.
Thanks anyway for the great inspiration I really enjoy watching you!! ❤️

Wow, you guys have somehow, someway, found the best "formula" for showing your life aboard the La Vagabonde. I know it wasnt easy, and that it took a long time to perfect your techniques to make episodes the world class quality that they are now. To all the others that want to follow your path? Obviously, it takes about 7 to 8 years, and lots of talent. Ive watched so many others, and they can be fun to watch, but you guys are the best and will continually set the bar for others like you that follow. And follow they should. One last comment. Elayna, your wonderful choice of blonde hair highlights is perfect. Please do not ever change that! Although I confess that I would still be loyal follower!

genuinly I look forward to Mondays just to watch your videos they keep me going. Mental health issues I agree are a massive thing especially in the current climate here on land things are at their worst. for me I personally get wound up trying to talk to someone about it something inside me just says "I know you're going to tell me I have depression here's some tablets" I've known for over 10 years I have it I just don't know how to break that barrier or how to talk about what is going through my head. That's probably one of the biggest issues people have to no doubt.
If you can talk then do it honestly and if you can't like me, find something to take your mind off it more often than you don't. For me I work even when I'm not working the busy'er I keep myself the less chance I have to think about it. (for me it works). Those bad days hit hard and if you can share that with someone to help you then do it to relieve some of that pressure.

Hi to Elayna Lenny the Captain and baby, I have watched the odd adventure you have submitted to U-Tube, and I must say I have enjoyed your adventures. You are an awesome family, what can I say, I wish. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
This episode is reality. I have completed two adventures with my little 3.6 metre and 8.3 meter live aboard, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory of Australia. Small trips compared to your adventures. What you have illustrated runs true to every trip. I also have had to move at midnight - change of wind, run aground on mud, on reef, hit a rock bar screwed up the gear box. At the end of the day one always hopes foe a calm and peaceful sleep, it rarely happens due to the wind. Regards Alex from Apollo Bay Victoria, Australia.

Thanks for posting this video- I’m in my 40’s so I know what reality is like and can love my life even though it’s not Instagram perfect… but I think younger people can get jealous over something that’s not reality

What gets me when living micro-home on rv trips is misplacing simple things like a flashlight can suck bad. This lifestyle these two have is more difficult than we see.

I only began watching your channel about 18 months ago and I have ZERO interest in ever sailing, but I enjoy watching a different lifestyle; not to envy the life or be young again (I’m now 61), because I’ve lived my own fabulous & sometimes traumatic life, but to experience vicariously a bit of an adventure as you, your gorgeous boys, and your rotation of crew sail around and navigate change. Blessings!

I’ve been watching for a few years now, and I’m always impressed at how you balance sharing the highs and lows, the fun and the serious. Risk is all around you, as is isolation, but there’s reward and beauty, and so much love on that boat of yours. Your approach to sailing, safety, family, and life enables great things and you have so much to be proud of. I appreciate your openness and honest portrayal of life.

In today's ESclips shows, no matter what it is, you now need to be professional in order to compete with the other shows. The content and the way that it is presented/films has become in some cases as good as a top rated TV show; it has to be. The camera equipment has gone from simple cameras put into waterproof cases for filming understand, to special waterproof camera costing thousands of dollars. It's all big business now a days, and there's always some new cute sailing couple just around the corner to take your spot as the darlings of the deep blue sea. Luckily, you guys have got it all going in all ways. Adorable, professional, silly, knowledgeable and very adventurous. You take a lot of time putting your shows together. Trying to keep them fun, exciting and as real as possible. After all, in the end, it is an entertainment program. Stay groovy and stay safe.
